New story time yeah!

Tristan shut the door and quickly chanted the incantation to keep it shut behind him.  A seal was visible for a brief second before being absorbed into the woodwork of the door.

How had he gotten himself into this mess?  Oh, right, he mouthed off to the disciplinary officer after he was quite inebriated.  He could steel feel the burn of the alcohol in his stomach and throat from the whiskey and rat spit that he drank.  Rat spit wasn't his favorite alcohol, but he had a job to do, and rat spit was right behind whiskey in alcohol content.  Normally, magi wouldn't get drunk when an important job was underway, but a Calix clan member always performed better when intoxicated.

A bang came from the door.  Looks like officer Staph was right behind him, as always.  Staph had the bad luck of being around whenever Tristan had a big job to do, and for some reason, Tristan always felt the need to mouth off to him.  Maybe one day he'd learn his lesson, but not today.  Tristan quickly glanced around the room into which he had entered.

Dealing with the symptoms of being drunk was one of the first things that a member of the Calix clan learned to do.  Tristan knew there weren't two of everything, despite what his eyes told him.  It appeared to be... no, how could he be so stupid.  He had locked himself into a restroom.  There was no other way out except through the door through which he came, no windows, no other doors, nothing.  Ok, so maybe the Calix clan didn't always work best while intoxicated.

Outside, Officer Staph continued beating on the door.  Why wasn't the door breaking down, he wondered, especially one that was this low of quality.  But, he had nothing else at his disposal, and his backup wouldn't get there for a few more minutes still.  At least this time, Tristan had been idiot enough to lock himself up in a bathroom, now there was nowhere to run.  A smile came to his face.

After a few minutes passed, his back up showed up, and fortunately one of them was a magi.  He took one look at the door, said a phrase -Staph assumed it was magical- under his breath, and the door immediately whammed open.  Staph rushed in and grabbed the cloaked person in the corner who had jumped with fright at the sound of the door.

"I got you this time, buddy!"  Staph exclaimed with joy, and almost felt like bursting into song.  Finally, finally, he would catch that no good jerk who mouthed off at him everytime they were around each other.

"Yes, but why do you have me?" came an unfamiliar voice.  Staph looked down and pulled the hood off the guy.  He looked nothing like Tristan.  Instead of the red hair and lean face, there was white, long hair, complete with beard and mustache, and a round face.  Blast!

"Did you see another man come in her?"  Staph was practically foaming at the mouth with rage as he asked this question.

"Of course, he made that window and jumped out," the old man pointed to the window in the back of the room.

"Quickly men, after him, we mustn't lose his trail!"  Staph and his men quickly ran through the restroom and jumped out of the window.

Tristan sighed as the officers' footsteps faded into the distance.  He then moved his hand in front of his face and returned it to its normal appearance.  He looked in the mirror.  Yeah, he looked a lot cooler this way.  Fortunately, Officer Staph wasn't aware that he was able to change his appearance now.  He didn't know how long that ruse would last, though.  It was probably time to come up with a new escape plan for the next time something like that happened.

He walked out the open door, looked around to catch his bearings, and walked off towards his job, only somewhat tripping over himself as he walked.

(So I think the next couple of stories are going to be about magi, or whatever you want to call them, mages, sorcerers, wizards, you know, magic users.  I think they will each have a different clan, though, and through this clan they will have special powers.  If anyone has any ideas for a clan power, let me know, and I'll see if I can get it into a story, and make it superly awesomely awesome!  Thanks to all my readers, I really do appreciate the time you take out of your day to read my things, hopefully they're not too boring for you :) Peace )
